LA FABRIK

Producers' Markets, Bar, Shared Workspaces, Artists in Residence, Traditional Crafts, Festivals...

Description

La Fabrik is an old industrial building converted into a centre for economic, cultural and social development. It encourages people of all ages and interests. It is overseen by the Association The Fabrigands.

Activities grow and develop depending on who is involved, their skills and passions and what they want to do. A key focus is transmitting knowledge to others.

Market and Bar: Every Friday evening from 5-8pm there is a local producers' market, predominantly foodstuffs. It is also a social occasions as people chat around the stalls and drink at the bar. Children are welcome and there is a play area to keep them amused.

Special Fridays: Several times a year the Friday markets turn into something extra: after the market there is an additional entertainment, music (amateurs or professional), concerts, plays.....

Thursday evenings: various craft activities (wood workshop, laser cutting workshop, metalwork) are open to the public and give people the chance to share their skills with others. In the school holidays there is a games workshop available as well for the children.

The Fabrik Festival is organised annully at the beginning of October in collaboration with the Company 'Ideosphere'. This is usually a very well attended event as it includes plays, circus acts and concerts. In the run-up there are beginners workshops on street-art and lino-cuts enabling more people to contribute to the decorations for the festival.

Shared workspace: open since January 2020 this is a workspace capable of welcoming up to 3 people. Those wishing to use it can book online. They bring their own laptop and can use the facilities provided to work and eat.

Shared workshops: Those who run the wood, metal and textiles workshops already welcome other members of the Fabrik and Ideosphere to learn their crafts a couple of days a week. Laser cutting and engraving /typesetting have recently been added to the skills on offer. Ongoing work on the building will soon allow more craftspeople to work with us.

Artist residencies: the recent completion of the workshop areas and the heated meeting room will now allow us to invite artists in residence
