It all started with a love story...
David Fèvre was born into a family of traditional bakers in Charente-Maritime, where he grew up with the smell of bread in his nose and the rhythm of the kneading board in his ears. His family's passion for baking passed on to him and he happily became an apprentice to his father at Chambon and then at La Rochelle.
After running bakeries for others, in 2000 he and Angélique moved to Le Retail in the heart of the Gâtine. Five years later they opened their own bakery in Fenioux and called it "L'Angélique" in honour of his wife and also of the plant which grows in the Marais Poitevin and which he uses in many of his recipes. By 2016 they were able to open a new bakery in Azay-sur-Thouet and in 2020 they sold the business in Fenioux, bought a bakery in Le Tallud with a wood-fired oven and started an online shop!
They have a well deserved reputation for tasty, crunchy breads made with local flour, delicious cakes and pastries and the most mouth-watering traditional brioche for miles around. You can order Yule logs and cakes for special occasions too.
