‘The Bread Oven’ in the Gâtine (little Switzerland)
Description
This is a detached gîte made from the old village bakehouse. It is two storeys high and is opposite the owners’ house, at the end of a quiet country track in the Gâtine. On the ground floor is a living room with kitchen/dining area, washing machine and a seating area with TV. On the first floor mezzanine you will find a double bed, two chests of drawers and clothes hanging space, a bathroom with a large shower and a separate toilet. There is room to park cars and bikes in the barn next door. There is an outside dining area for the summer with a barbecue and orchard fruits are available in season. You can relax in the private garden seating area shaded by parasols. There is a lake with fishing rights, and walking and mountain biking tracks which start from the gîte. Small children can be accommodated if you bring their beds. You will be staying in the bakehouse where Phil Lyn (Johnny Hallyday tribute act) has filmed several times, including with Claude Lelouch in 2016 and who often comes to our bread festival in May. https://www.johnnytribute.com Nearby is a hairdresser, a butcher/deli, a thematic bar/restaurant, a Post Office and a bakery which came second in 2016 in a TV competition to find the best bakery. Other shops are 11km away. The gîte is ideally placed for access to La Rochelle, the Ile de Ré, the Marais Poitevin, Parthenay, Puy du Fou, Futuroscope and La Vendée. There is horse riding nearby. Farm produce can be bought 6 km away. Your welcome basket contains local produce and vegetables from the garden. Sheets and towels are supplied for two people. If you let us know well in advance, we can organise the hire of bicycles with or without electric assistance. The minimum stay is 2 nights. A special price of 90€ (instead of 120€) for 3 nights is on offer all year round. Arrival day can be any day agreed with the owner. The damage deposit of 300€ is repaid within 7 days of the end of your stay if no damage has been sustained. No reservation can be confirmed until a deposit has been paid.
